Chili Cheese Paniyaram (Appe)

Imagine a chili cheese toast, but stuffed in the middle of dosa batter and cooked to perfection!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups dosa batter
  • 1/2 cup shredded Amul cheese
  • 2-3 green chili chopped
  • 1/2 small onion diced
  • 1 tsp sandwich masala or chat masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • salt to taste
  • ghee to coat appe pan

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix the shredded cheese, green chili, onion, and spices until well combined
  • Coat your appe pan with a little bit of ghee in each mold
  • Put the pan on low heat and fill each mold about halfway with dosa batter
  • Spoon about 1/2-1 tsp of the cheese mixture into each mold and then cover remaining space with more dosa batter
  • Increase the heat slightly to about medium low and cover and cook for 2-3 minutes
  • When the base is golden fried, flip them, cover and cook the other side until golden and inside is cooked for another 2-3 minutes
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney or green chutney!

Notes

  • You can use homemade dosa batter for this or store bought
  • You will need a Paniyaram/Appe pan for this
