This refreshing Blazin’ Hot Margarita is perfect for a hot summer day or as part of your weekend BBQ!
Hi everyone! I’ve got yet another drink recipe for you that is super easy and super delicious! I’ve actually been drinking these all month so I figured why not share them with you guys! This stemmed from one random night around the end of April when my husband and I really wanted margarita’s with our Mexican food but didn’t have the ingredients that typically goes into a margarita. And then on top of that, I wanted a spicy margarita, because we all know how much I love everything spicy! So here we are with some tequila but no triple sec, no cointreau, no grand marnier, and no orange liqueur to help make these margaritas.
So I started looking through the refrigerator to see what I had and I had just bought a ton of limes and jalapeños so the idea started brewing in my head. But the one thing I wasn’t sure about was how it was going to taste because I didn’t have any of the above mentioned that usually go into making a margarita. I can usually throw things together and figure it out when it comes to food, but with drinks, I’m no bartender and I’m not good with figuring out replacements. After searching online for so long and really coming up empty handed, I figured I would just wing it. My mind told me that I can make a margarita with what I have and maybe if I add sugar, it’ll help sweeten it a bit and cut the spice. Of course that makes sense, but sugar doesn’t really melt in cocktails, and that’s when I realized I could just use simple syrup! Except, I had no simple syrup either, but I had sugar and water so it was easy to make my own right at home! And from there, this drink was born. It’s easy, quick, and doesn’t require all the fancy additives that margarita’s usually have but this will taste just as good, if not better!
For those of you who have been craving a margarita but are going through the same troubles I went through above, this recipe will solve all your troubles! If you don’t have any simple syrup at home, similar to me, you can easily make it with sugar and water! It’s a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water and you just have to boil it down until it becomes a slightly thick, syrupy consistency. It takes about 15-20 minutes to make, but you can make it in bulk and store the extra in your fridge to use for next time! Or use it all at once, I’m not judging how many margarita’s you’re planning to have!
You’re going to want to use a good blanco tequila for this because that’s also going to help with the taste. I used Teremana Tequila Blanco, which is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new small batch tequila, but you can use any one of your choice. Also, to ensure maximum spice, make sure to soak your jalapeños with the seeds in the tequila prior to making your drink. If you don’t like things too spicy and just want a hint of the jalapeño for some flavor, or if you’re short on time, you can skip this step and just add the sliced jalapeños with seeds directly to the shaker cup without soaking and you’ll still get some of the flavor but it won’t be as spicy.
I hope you guys will give this a try as it’s been my go to cocktail for the last few weeks and it’s so good! Happy drinking, folks!
