Air-Fried Shishito Peppers

Blistered Shishito peppers covered in a spicy, garlicky sauce, air-fried to perfection!

Who loves Shishito peppers?! I know I do! And if you haven’t tried them before, you definitely should because they are so delicious! I remember when I tried them for the first time at a restaurant in NYC, and I was so fascinated by these peppers that everyone seemed to be ordering. I didn’t really understand the hype until I tried them. Shishito peppers are like a mildly spicy version of a green pepper or a capsicum. They come from the same family so they have similar qualities but they just have a hint of spice to them. Sometimes, you do get unlucky and get a really spicy one, which probably tastes even spicier than it actually is just because it is so unexpected. They are such a simple vegetable, so easy to prepare, and can be made in just minutes! They serve as a great appetizer, side dish, or snack and honestly, you just keep munching on them. These would also go really great as a side to my Creamy Miso Bucatini recipe!

They can be prepared in a variety of different ways, you can even eat them raw if you wanted. The most popular way I’ve seen them done is when they are blistered with a slight char on them. And that’s also my favorite way of eating them! People pan fry them or bake them, but I chose to test them out in the air fryer! They came out perfectly! I added a little flavor to them just to give it some life and air-fried them to perfection! They were delicious and garlicky, with a hint of spice from the extra Siracha that I added! All in all, these were a winner and such an easy appetizer or snack to make. Not to mention, these are actually very healthy! Shishito peppers are low in calories and carbs and packed with vitamins and nutrients! So next time you want to indulge in something yummy without all the guilt, try this out, you won’t be disappointed! Happy eating, folks!
