Il Mulino has been a staple for us for the last 10+ years and always gives me that quintessential old-school New York Italian experience. The pastas were rich and indulgent, cooked perfectly al dente, and the veal parmigiana was everything I wanted—crispy, cheesy, and satisfying in a way that feels timeless. Even the antipasti before the main courses made it clear this is a restaurant that doesn’t cut corners. Half the time we don’t even end up ordering appetizers due to the amount of food they give you before you even get to ordering.
The atmosphere was lively, even a little extravagant, which made the meal feel celebratory. The servers are traditional and make you feel like you’re family. It’s the kind of place where dinner feels like an occasion in itself, and I loved leaning into that energy for the night.
